Rename autoselects name only (not extension)
I recently built a new PC with Windows Vista at home. The Vista version of explorer has a small but nifty enhancement -- when you rename a file the filename is selected by default, but the extension (e.g. ".xls") is not.

Plugin paths don't recognize variables
The plugin dialog doesn't let you specify %FcSrcDrive% as the drive. I hand-edited the FreeCommander.ini file to change the path, but when I restarted FC my plugins failed to load. The variable is not being interpolated.
I'm running FreeCommander Portable v2007.10 on WinXP, SP2.

More copy path options
Copy path options should include DOS-style (back-slashes), Unix-style (forward-slashes), and UNC paths. You should also be able to copy the full path including filename instead of just the enclosing directory.

Recognize back/forward mouse events
The default configuration for my MS Intellimouse has buttons mapped to "back" and "forward" but FreeCommander doesn't recognize them.
[For now I've worked around this by enabling application-specific settings and mapping the buttons to Alt-Left and Alt-Right.]

Portable file associations
For FreeCommander Portable (at least) it would be useful to be able to set file associations to use other portable programs to edit files and to keep them with the program (not the computer).
