Re: App state fragility
That's not what happens during a crash. And while there's tab info in FreeCommander.ini as well, Save Settings doesn't update FreeCommander.hist.ini , which is absolutely part of the app state's record. Here's the bottom line: No matter which files/settings we're talking about, the app state lacks r...

Re: App state fragility
Workaround for the suggestion - main menu - Tools - Save Settings. Tools > Save Settings isn't a work-around though, because it doesn't update FreeCommander.hist.ini , which is the file that tracks the opened tabs state, etc. In fact, it appears that file is only updated when you close the app... w...

Re: App state fragility
So when I open a new tab, for example, can that info be written to the history file (or wherever), so that the app's working state is recorded, while the app is actually open.

You don't understand. And you're making guesses. This post is for the developer; just let him respond.

App state fragility
Would it be possible to update FreeCommander.hist.ini in real time, as each change occurs?
Since as it stands now, if FC exits abnormally or crashes, then the open tabs list and any similar history is lost.

Re: Favorites tree lacks a folder expansion hover delay
@Marek - Please add an option in the settings to disable hover-expansion of categories in the Favorites tree.

Re: Favorites tree lacks a folder expansion hover delay
No it's not. The only way to possibly avoid expanding neighboring categories you don't want open is to perform the move very quickly and precisely. But you shouldn't have to avoid anything - the categories shouldn't be auto-expanding when you merely glance by them. At least not with such a short hov...

Favorites tree lacks a folder expansion hover delay [continued]
FC ver = FreeCommander XE 2022 Build 872 64-bit donor (portable), (and many previous versions) Windows ver = 7 & 10 See OP: Favorites tree lacks a folder expansion hover delay (There were no replies to that thread to indicate that the behavior can be modified in the program settings, so I'm tagg...

Re: Favorites tree lacks a hover delay
To give you a better idea, see the GIF below.
(The jitter at the end is the result of dropping the dragged object - the whole tree does a sort of quick double refresh.)

Favorites tree lacks a folder expansion hover delay
Trying to organize favorites by dragging them in the Favorites tree unintentionally expands any category/folder that they barely touch, as there is a non-existent folder expansion delay upon mouse hover. So you end up expanding everything as you drag an item, whether you want to or not. Why isn't th...

Re: 716 - Auto backup of settings does not function as expected
The problem may be - you never shut down the program. Currently only on program start will be checked if backup is needed. Yes, then that's the problem. Because I don't shut down FC if I have no reason to. And I believe it's fair to say that I shouldn't have expected that I'd have to restart the pr...

Re: 716 - Auto backup of settings does not function as expected
So that's a confirmation of the bug - it's clear from your screen shot that FC is not performing a daily backup. No, you are wrong - I just start FC from time to time. Then why are you responding to this thread if it doesn't affect you? You should have said up front that you only use it intermitten...

Re: 716 - Auto backup of settings does not function as expected
I can't confirm this bug, last 15 backups are from FC_Bak_Settings_2017-10-26 00-11-37 to FC_Bak_Settings_2017-11-09 00-17-11, one backup per day. FC 762 64-bit donor, Windows 10 64-bit. Is FC installed to the default directory, or are you using the portable version? Is it on a laptop that goes to ...

Re: 716 - Auto backup of settings does not function as expected
Sorry but currently we are at version 762 Why should one test anything on old version. It doesn't matter what version you're using if the bug was never fixed - it would just get carried forward in each subsequent version... I've already tried upgrading to newer versions. And I read the change log f...
