Re: long time, no new public release
Not true anymore. The gaming industry is filled with counter-examples, even from AAA studios This is probably a bit off-topic but I've been tilting at this windmill for years. I'll have to defer to your expertise on this in regards to the gaming industry. I think different industries, and the diffe...

Highlight Active Items in files list in Windows 10
I bought a laptop with Windows 10 pro. I copied a portable version of FreeCommander to the laptop and everything seems to work fine so far with one exception. I can't seem to find a combination of colors that will show a highlight bar over whatever items I select in the files pane. It works fine in ...

Best way to get to a folder from Plain View - Files display
I have a large digital collection of comic books, e-books, audiobooks, music, etc. Each has its own folder under the root folder (i.e. Comic Books, Audiobooks, Audio) For comic books, each major title has its own sub-folder and each Volume is in its own sub-folder under the major title. To make sure...

Re: long time, no new public release
I have tested and experimented with hundreds of freeware and commercial applications over the past 20 years. In my private life the applications I focus on are primarily freeware. Many of the developers I've communicated with over the years develop their software because a) they couldn't find a prod...

Re: New PDF Previewer
Played around with it some more and the Ctrl+Q issue on both my Laptop and desktop seems to only happen when I Quick View MS documents or PDF's that use the Windows Preview setting. Using slister for PDF's doesn't have this problem.
Joby - Thanks for the tip about slister.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: New PDF Previewer
A minor side note, if you use a non-Adobe PDF reader (I use the portable version of Sumatra PDF on my laptop) it may not allow the option of setting up a default PDF viewer for Windows Preview unless the PDF reader is installed. It took me a couple of moments to figure that one out. :? Also, when I ...

Re: Is TeraCopy working correct?
Having same issue as described by mauri_va. I upgraded to build 697 today. If there is a space in the destination folder name then the parameter ("%InactivDir%") is being truncated at the space which results in an error thrown by Teracopy stating the folder doesn't exist. This has worked i...

Freecommander Help file (Freecommander.chm)
Somewhere along the way (and it could have been years ago) I managed to delete the Freecommander help file. Could someone please point me in the direction of where I could download a copy or to an online version that is updated with the latest changes?
Thank you - Bill

Re: Can't rename file / folder
I've run across this before. I rename the file to something different, i.e. delete the leading space and add a 1 at the end of the folder name. Second step - rename the folder and delete the 1 at the end. Might be better ways...

File Folder Operations using External Program
I use a program called TeraCopy to copy and move files around and especially for mass file moves from one network drive to another. I decided to add it to the FreeCommanders optional File/folder operations for both copy and move (Tools / Options / File/folder operations). TeraCopy accepts parameters...

Column Sorting Stops Working When Using Remote Access
FreeCommander XE 2014 Build 662 donor, Windows 7 SP1 64-bit Clicking on column headings should sort columns but occasionally stops working. Workaround was to restart FreeCommander or go to Tools...Setttings..View..File/folder list...Sorting Tab and then click on an option like "Folders like fil...

Focus changes after Delete
Short version: Highlight a file in the right file pane. Press Delete key, or click on the Delete icon. File is deleted. Focus moves from the right file pane to the left file pane. I've checked this multiple time and it's repeatable. Have multiple files in the right files pane. 1. View is Dual Pane. ...
