Re: Very Slow Startup
I want to like FreeCommander_XE, but the long start-up time is just not acceptable. The previous version starts up instantly, while XE takes over 30-seconds. A little investigating shows that when starting, XE Reads (and pre-indexes?) all files and folders on the Desktop, including inside every ZIP ...

Not so fast. I am having the same problem with XE650 .. 25-sec. load time vs. 3-sec for the 'old' version on WinXP. Is it caching icons or building a directory tree or something?

Show ONLY image-file thumbnails, without folder icons
How can this be done? I would like to view thumbnails for, say, JPG, GIF, PNG, etc., but I don't want to see any folders .. just the thumbs for the files I select. I tried setting a folder filter, but it still displays the folders. I tried using 'View, Only Selected Files' .. same results. Hmmm...

Can't sort on Path column in Flat View
I created a Custom Column profile with a Path column for use with the Flat View mode. When I try and sort on that column it sorts on the Name, not the Path. Can this be fixed?

Problems with FC on small 'netbook' computers
Some of the 'pop-up' windows, such as the 'Settings' pane, are too large for the 1024x600 displays on netbook computers (Asus EeePC, Acer Aspire One, etc.). The Settings pane measures 710x637 so the buttons just barely show at the bottom. Other panes have similar issues. Can those panes be made smal...

Preserve folder dates and times during copy and move
Sorry, I meant to post this request to the Feature Request Forum... Please add the option to preserve the Modified and Created dates and times on folders when copying and moving them. Then I could dump CopySynch and use FreeCommander exclusively. Using these dates helps in maintaining accurate backu...

For those looking for a way to copy/synch files and folders while maintaining the timestamps (Modified AND Created), CopySynch (http://www.jpgriffiths.com/default.shtml) is the only free program I've found that does the trick. If anyone knows of any other solution, especially a 'commander-like' prog...

Operations on Search File/Folders results
It would be great if the Results screen would allow any operation that's possible in Windows Explorer. Examples... When I perform a Search for, say, *.txt files on drive C:, the standard Windows right-click menu (Send To, etc) is not available in the Results screen. It would be useful to allow the s...

Preserve folder timestamps
When I copy or move a folder to another folder or drive (either NTFS or FAT) the timestamp is not preserved. Instead, the current date/time is used. Is there a way to copy folders and keep the time and date info of the original folder? This is useful when directories are sorted on the last-modified ...
