I use Win 10 Defender. Some AV-software checks contents of all files stored in a folder when you open it. This could be the cause of all your problems. Actually I would not thing it, because all of the other programs / file managers I use / I have tried, does it like usual, without such hesitations....

My FC hast been as slowly on Win 7 as it is now on Win 10. So that does not appear to be the cause.

When I press ALT and drag an exe file to a tool bar it lasts about the same time until FC is accessible again.

FC needs about 1 to 3 minutes after clicking the FC icon / its exe to start FC.

How could I make it start faster?
