Re: Should I uninstall the older version first?
You don't need to uninstall old version. Some useful information about settings in this FAQ Thanks Dreamer. Sorry but I'm still unclear: The folder structure will remain the same? My configuration files will remain and will not be overwritten? The new (primary executable file) will just overwrite t...

Re: Check off boxes in their own column
Is the preference permanent? and what is disabled/changed by this workaround?

I think the word you're looking for is CACHE.

Should I uninstall the older version first?
. . . or can I just install it over the older version? I guess what I'm really saying is — which if any of my config files etc. would be deleted if I were to uninstall first?
Currently:
FreeCommander XE 2017 Build 740 32-bit public. Thanks.

Force the Extension column to display the Extension [pt. 2]
It is not a bug. [ display file extension in its own column ] is so implemented. Marek, was this implemented?! :P Because I see a column dedicated to the file's .EXT and couldn't be more pleased! I generally think it always better to have the feature available . . . and then anyone who doesn't want...

Re: HIDE FILE EXTENSION
And I have the exact opposite problem: I want the extensions to always display, both in the EXT column -and- as part of the file name.

Force the Extension column to display the Extension
I created a custom column-settings file, but the extensions in the extensions-file column do not display (and since I'm on the subject) I don't like any portion of the file name to be hidden, most importantly the file's EXTENSION.
Any help appreciated.

Re: Quick viewer colors
Zorkoff ... that is what I have been doing. The problem is the background colors are squirrely : they don't save when I select the background colors ►from within the program. That is why I need to 'hard code' the colors by manually editing the .INI file (and then, probably fix the attribute to Read ...

Re: Quick viewer colors
I thought that could be changed in one of the *.ini files. How is the colorcode done? I would try it out, if someone would tell me in which files i have to try a look. I am not a programmer in the professional league of those who write applications in C and VBasic etc., just your typical HTML, CSS,...

Hi, just registered :)
This program ROCKS! Wow. My first question is: Is there an Advanced Guide and/or links here on FC (or a fan's 3rd Party site) that goes into excruciating detail about the .INI file? I'm asking because I'm having difficulty assigning background colors, and I hunted down the line in the .INI file afte...
