I selected "use freecommander" and I am now seeing the tabbed window. however, whether I select "with dialogue" or without dialogue, all move/ copy operations are failing with message "unable to create directory". I have set "auto rename target file" and have not changed any of the defa...

Re: Oh, it does find/ search within doc and xls files

And I was under the impression that donor version and free user versions are exactly same and have all features, it is just that donors are given more versions early.

how naive of me.

Thanks.

Oh, it does find/ search within doc and xls files

After years of using fc, and simultaneously, years of searching for method to be able to search within content of MS Word and MS Excel files, (no effective software found), yesterday, I got the pleasant surprise (amazement) that fc itself is fully capable of searching some text withing .doc and .xls...

"Auto rename target file" ticking doesn't stick nor followed

To copy a file, when we use Shift F5 in a folder on selecting a file, a window opens that asks us the name of the new file we want. There is "Auto rename target file" option, but even if we tick it, it disappear when we copy next file there or anywhere. In the next window it is unticked again. At le...

Re: renaming to a name already existing name throws error

I don't think.

Previously I had teracopy, but that is not there any more. I think I am using only windows explorer with its defaults.

could you please mention suggest some names of such software so that I could find whether I have any of them on my box.

Thanks.

renaming to a name already existing name throws error

If we rename a file/ folder, and give a name which is already existing in that same folder, it is throwing error. 1 Interrupted Action Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect. That is cryptic. Of course it can't rename to that, but it should tell in simpler words that "a file/ folder with this ...

What are temp folders and why are they not removed?

Seeing this folder entry in ABOUT, I find dozens of folders named like FreeCommander2108 in my w7 folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp They are blank (have nothing in them) as many as I could see. What are they used for? And if their use is over after some particular run or task, why are th...

Re: long time, no new public release

latest was release 698 for donors. I have a hunch that Marek might make the "century" release 700 for public, in order to celebrate the achievement. I would myself not be downloading and installing so many donors release, even if they had been made available to public. Even firefox, from 33, I updat...

Re: long time, no new public release

I have been using this since w7 days when ms had the stupidity to spoil its windows explorer by adding all those libraries and stopped allowing me to access my folders the way I was used to in earlier versions. And once I stumbled upon fc, I got overwhelmed by its feature that are mountain high in c...
