I have a question regarding the command line in FC. any time I type in a command eg. "dir, echo, etc." directly in the command line a new dos box is opened and the command is executed then the dos box stays open. when entering "ipconfig" a dos box is opened but closed immediately...

I personally don't use favorite folders.
you can define and access any particular folder in one single click by using the favorite toolbar.
you even may assign an individual icon to each folder:
