Re: Is it possible to sort by file type ? IN FILE SEARCH RE
The latest public version of FCXE is 609, released December 1, 2012. So I recommend you upgrade from 591 -- see http://www.freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm Otherwise it is really not worthwhile troubleshooting an old version. Then let us know if you have the same trouble with 609. I'm using FCXE 615...

Wish: Label "Stripe" control
This post was motivated by to Vodoomoth's request at http://www.forum.freecommander.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5048 and my difficulty in solving his problem. It is very difficult to find where to enable and control the alternating stripe in file lists, or even to know that such a setting exists. It...

Re: Alternating colors
Settings > View > File/Folder List > Color/Font tab The first row of icons controls the Stripe. Click on the first icon and select a color. I don't know why your stripe got turned off when upgrading to 615, but it acts as if the "No Stripe" icon got activated instead of preserving your set...

Re: Is it possible to sort by file type ? IN FILE SEARCH RE
The Type column sorts correctly for me in 615 (Win7 x64). I didn't test it on any earlier version.
Fcny, does the Type column sort correctly for you in a regular tab? Or is the problem only in Search Results?
Uwee, I wonder if 615 works for you now? Thanks.

Re: Find dialog - default to current folder?
Glad that it's working for you now. This has always worked correctly for me by default (Folder field prefilled with the current path), no changes to settings required.

I'm not familiar with "rubber band select" and "M1 select." Could you explain what you would like FC to be able to do? Thanks.

Re: 609 - Column layout is automatically resetted
... Though, I still think that the column shouldn´t be autosized when something happens inside the folder (like deleting a file). Autosize should happen when the user changes the folder. You could try changing Settings > View > File/Folder List > Refresh: [ ] Auto refresh for general changes (creat...

Re: Allow setting for folder size to be saved
I don't know why this setting is made on a tab-by-tab basis, and not set globally in Settings. But it's not difficult to have folder sizes "always" display. Just enable it in a tab, and set the following in Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management [x] Always keep one tab open [ ] Clo...

Re: Open FreeCommander from Windows Explorer Context Menu
It doesn't make much sense to me to use a very limited file manager (Windows Explorer) to open a very capable file manager (FreeCommander). Why not just use FC to begin with? You can have Windows use FC as the default file shell (Tools > Redirect Win+E to FreeCommander), or else start FC from a shor...

Re: 609 - Column layout is automatically resetted
As I recall, there has been some discussion about this elsewhere on the forum, but I don't have time to look for it now. You might try Settings > Custom Columns. Select the custom view you are using, then click on the Define Columns button. Try enabling or disabling the Autosize For "Name"...

Re: Problem with Select All toolbar button
What version of FC are you using?
I agree that what you are experiencing is not correct behavior. But it works correctly for me in FC-XE 613 -- only the files and subfolders are deleted, while the parent folder remains. I don't have to use any workaround. (Win7 x64)

Re: Rename after Copying file to same folder - slow
Renaming a copied file is not slow for me in FC-XE (Win7 x64). Because FC 2009 is not being developed any more, you could upgrade to FC-XE; it is a stable beta version. http://www.freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm If you want to continue to use FC 2009, you might compare the renaming speed in Windows...

Re: Strange behavior when folder tree display is on
I don't have this problem; I can rename a folder ("change a folder name") in either the tree or the active pane, and the focus does not change (does not jump to the root directory). FCXE 613, Win7 x64. I tried it with each of the three options for Base Folder (Settings > Tree > Management ...
