Always copy/move using drag-n-drop (never run)
When I copy/move a file using drag-n-drop from one pane to another, I don't want to worry about accidentally dropping it onto an executable in the target pane (which would cause the file to be loaded by the executable). Is it currently possible to set FreeCommander XE to always drop a file into the ...

Re: Button to close the Quick View pane from within that pan
Thanks. That's how I have it now, but I'm always trying to find the button in the Quick View pane to close it!Dreamer wrote:Just a workaround, you can add the quick view button to address bar or the splitter bar, it's near the quick viewer.

Button to close the Quick View pane from within that pane
I want to be able to add 'actViewQuickView;tbsButton;;;0;;0;0;0' to the '[TfcViewerFrameToolbars_ViewerStandard]' section of the settings ini file, so that I can have a button to close the Quick View pane from within that pane. Unfortunately, that button does not seem to work when added to that sect...

To which plugins are you referring?Timon wrote:But many plugins are updated constantly and you can see source code for some of them.
If you are not so much around the trust, then let's start with the fact that the source code of FC XE seen nobody, except developer

Setting up a specific PDF quick viewer
How do you specify the PDF Viewer to be used for the internal viewer and quick viewer? I first removed .pdf as Windows Preview extension in Tools → Settings → Programs → View → Viewers. I then tried specifying the executable for PDF-XChange portable in Tools → Settings → Programs → (Internal) Viewer...

Re: Basic instructions on Plugins and where to find them
As an additional note, it is important to stress that the safety of many of these viewers needs to be verified. The source code is not available for most of them, and many are hosted on random sites.
Some of the viewers have not been updated in 5-10 years.

The information in this thread is excellent and very useful.
Perhaps it can be made into a sticky or part of a FAQ?

Re: Slow Networking Issue
I also find Freecommander very slow working with mapped network drives (especially copy/move operations) compared to Windows Explorer. Yes, it's the only time I need to open Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer is so much faster that it winds up being worth the time to open up 2 Windows Explorer wind...

Re: FreeCommander acting like its always on top
It started happening again. It seems to be a bit sporadic. LibreOffice is now appearing underneath FreeCommander when I double-click on a spreadsheet file. Rootkit, virus, and malware scans with multiple scanners continue to find nothing wrong. No other symptoms or unusual behavior. No other program...

Re: FreeCommander acting like its always on top
I don't think it's the FC issue, the exe is same, OS is same, settings same... What about the HotkeyP? It could help as workaround or even fix the problem completely. Anyway, I still think it's some kind of virus, spyware... What about system restore? Perhaps you could go back, even few weeks, you ...

Re: FreeCommander acting like its always on top
Try to backup actual settings and then use one of the settings from backup. The path to FC, settings folder are in main menu > Help > About. ... You can also try to use default settings, to find if the problem is in settings. Thanks for the tips. I tried deleting all FreeCommanderXE settings files ...

Re: FreeCommander acting like its always on top
I tried Avast Antivirus. When accessing Avast via the FreeCommander context menu, all Avast popups appear under the FreeCommander window. Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Change FreeCommander XE program icons
You can definitely make a shortcut to FreeCommander, and then assign any icon you would like. This is what I do. But if you want FreeCommander to use the icon within the app (so it shows up in the taskbar, for example), then you will need to ask Marek to include it. I've been meaning to submit the c...

FreeCommander acting like its always on top
Test System: FreeCommander XE Build 685 32-bit Public on Win7 SP1 64-bit I cannot figure this one out. It's a real head-scratcher. Recently, FreeCommander started acting like its window is set as "Always on top". I have not changed any settings, nor have I installed any new software on the...
