Maybe for cases like this, there should be a question „Cannot detect FreeCommander version, please select 32 bit or 64 bit“?

When I paste the address of an archive in the address bar of FC (for example c:\packefile.zip), instead of opening the archive in FC, it gets open by an externally associated application for archives.

It is better now, nothing got damaged, the console did not close itself, but it seems that my 32 bit FC was detected as 64, as Total7zip.wcx64 was set for the plugin to be used, instead of Total7zip.wcx.

Your script is removing the BOM from the INI file. I have opened and saved freecommnder.ini with BOM and now everything is fine.

This did not work for me.
I pressed yes, yes, yes.. then the console window got closes without a message success/fail or whatever. There was nothing in the freeComander/plugins/wcx folder, actually, there was no wcx folder at all.

In my opinion, there is no reason to try Midnight Commander, unless you are using DOS or a Linux without a GUI.

Double Commander, it also works in Windows.
In some aspects it is better, in others it is worse. Definitely FreeCommander looks much better.
