Re: 840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter
 omg, @Marek the colon (:) really works in the quick filter field of Quick starter but it works differently than the 'normal' characters. if I launch Quick starter I usually just start typing to activate the quick filter field - that's brilliant and intuitive. if I want to use the colon char...

Re: 840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter
you're correct again, of course it's colon : (I'm not native English!) and it doesn't surprise me that colon doesn't work in Quick starter search field In either case, the issue is present in the Quick Search UI's quick filter input field, which searches descriptive text, and not filenames. That de...

Re: 840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter
you're correct BUT the semi-colon (:) is an illegal character for file/folder names so I guess it's more a feature than a bug It might be a language difference... I've always referred to this character : as a colon, not a semi-colon. Yes, the colon is used after a drive letter, and not within a fil...

840 - Cannot enter some characters into Quick Filter input fields if assigned as keyboard shortcut
FC 840 donor 64-bit (Win7) When focus is in any Quick Filter input field, and a keyboard shortcut is assigned to a valid filename character, the keyboard shortcut is evoked instead of entering the desired text. For example, configure spacebar to switch between panes (very handy). Then it becomes imp...

840 - Wipe UI has almost illegible when using OS dark theme
FC 840 donor 64-bit (Win7)
When using a dark theme for the OS, FC's wipe UI becomes very difficult to use.
The yellow areas and the status bar in that UI all have UX issues.
Here is a visual example:

840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter
FC Version 840 Donor 64bit Win7
Some characters will not work in the Quick Starter quick filter field. An example is the colon character (:).
An odd workaround is to disable quick the filter field and then re-enable it.

Re: 840 - FC does not restore its own window when Quick Starter opens a folder
confirmed. BUT: I must admit that I really appreciate the "new" behavior (i.e. main FCXE-window doesn't pop up when using Quick starter) I agree! I like how it does not pop up when simply launching Quick Starter. But when I use Quick Starter to open a tab in FreeCommander, I think FreeCom...

Allow specifying a custom icon for FreeCommander
It would be wonderful if the user could specify the program icon for FreeCommander. If this is implemented, I have custom icons for FreeCommander that I will gratefully contribute to the project! Currently, you can use native Windows functions to change a shortcut's icon to FreeCommander, but that o...

840 - Duplicate file finder column widths not saved
FC 840 donor 64-bit (Win7)
The column widths for the results of FC's duplicate file finder (in the Search files/folders UI) are never saved, from what I can tell. If you find a way to save them, by all means, please let me know!

Re: How to create hard links in FreeCommander?
Yes, you can use the "Vista method" in Windows 7, 8, and 10. I agree it could be confusing for users, which name you suggest? It works in Vista and higher, so perhaps: - Vista and higher method - Vista+ method - Vista/7/8/10 method - New method - New Windows method For text above the drop...

Re: How to create hard links in FreeCommander?
1. How can one create hard links in FreeCommander? As far as I'm aware FreeCommander itself doesn't support that, but I use the Link Shell Extension for that. It integrates neatly into the right click menu and drag & drop functionality of the Windows explorer and thus can be used just the same ...
