The one thing I do like about Vista's explorer and hope for in FC (or any other file commander product with sufficient nerve) is the functionality behind the column labels. The sorting/grouping/amd filtering options available from a right-click on a Vista Explorer column label are righteous, useful,...

Details view icon background bug
File icons in details view are not alpha'd properly. This is readily apparent when one chooses a dark color for the alternate background color of the file panel. http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/5931/clipboard1et2.png IMO the icon backgrounds should be transparent/match the color behind them.

Reqst: Root Button goes to root of locked tab
I really appreciate the tab context menu option "Lock - navigation to subfolders". Thank you for it! It would be great if I could quickly return to the root of a locked tab by clicking the panel's "root" button (the backslash). I am for years used to this behavior in another file...

Drag & Drop from Archives?
Drag & drop from an archive (displayed in an FC panel) doesn't work on my system. Is this (lack of) behavior simply a lacuna of design, an option I haven't found yet, a bug, or something weird about my installation? If it is just a missing function, please add it to the suggestions list! Thanks ...

IMO, The major difference between the two is plug-in support. There is a very active developer community behind the compression, file system, lister (file preview, etc), and contents (custom lister columns) TC plug-in architectures. If you depend upon the TC plug-ins, you will find yourself frequent...

Back when I began my career in IT (1982), of course we were using CRTs, and a co-worker once pointed out that a CRT is really just a light bulb and had I ever considered how we spent our entire day staring at light bulbs and typing. I really took that to heart and though now there are LCD displays i...

Reqst: Quick Filter Applied Only to Current Tab
It is inconvenient to have to disable a quick filter when navigating to a new tab in FreeCommander. My suggestion is for a quick filter to apply to its parent tab only. This means that the filter would become a persistent property of the tab, and NOT the file panel (as it currently is), in much the ...

Reqst: Quick Filter as Combo
Currently the very useful quick filter input box (lower right of each file panel) is a simple text control. My suggestion is to convert it to a combo box which contains the previous n unique quick filters typed by the user. If that were implemented, the user could quickly cycle through various filte...

Fully customizable, named column layouts are de rigeur in file managers these days. I'm confident we'll eventually see them in FreeCommander. But in the meantime, a productive shortcut (meaning: easier to program in the short term) would be for FreeCommander to support TC's wdx (content) plugin spec...
