I wish there was one too :(

But there is one way to make it shorter -- hold Alt and drag ;)

If you are overwriting old files with new versions, you always have to check "Always overwrite without prompt"

So far there is no way to make it remember to do this :(

If that is not the problem... :?

In the Settings dialog, General, do you have "Fixed" checked under "Auto Refresh on drive"? It refreshes for me, in XP.

The easiest way to run FC with the test ini is to create a shortcut to FC on your desktop. Name it FC-new ini or something like that. Then right-click it and chose Properties. Paste /N /NewIni=FreeCommanderTest.ini /NoPlugins /Lng=English after the file path in the "Target" field, with a s...

I didn't see anything unusual today when I copied FreeCommander onto my friend's new laptop -- she liked the looks of it, BTW :D

Nope. Open/Save dialogs are hard-coded into the Windows system, except for programs that have their own built in. You would have to re-write all the code to make a call to anything else. There are ways to add features to dialog boxes, but I don't know what is available for Vista (I'm an XP h4x0r lol).

What kind of files are they? Is it the same kind every time? Any similarity in attributes? I suspect it's some quirk of Vista, but I haven't had a chance to run FC in Vista yet.

If by "show only one folder" you mean have only one panel, you can do that by dragging one side out of sight and saving the layout. The drive bar and panel are always one or the other, can't have none.

I don't see any problem with a viewer being just a viewer. If I want to edit text, I use an editor. One keystroke opens it and I have the tool I like best for that purpose.

I was just playing with multiple rename in flat view in FC 2009.02. After the renaming, flat view "leaved automaticly". It does it even if no renaming is done -- close the multi-rename dialog, and boink! no flat. :)

You could use the flat view -- Ctrl+B

That IE cache is almost as weird as the Recycle Bin. Once recently I found it, or a duplicate, hiding somewhere else. I start to wonder whether I'm hallucinating or Windoze is.

Oh, all right, I see what you are saying now. I think it is a Windows issue. The URL file type is handled in a special way. A link on a web page behaves the way you want it to, but an URL file has to obey a different set of rules, and the viewer handles things from the wrong angle. I don't know if t...

Have you tried editing the INI file when the program is closed?

Window position line is:

Pos=56, 96, 611, 928, 0

this was my last position. Numbers are in pixels, first two are upper left y and x, next pair are lower right y and x. I don't know what the 0 is about.
