How to fix weak font on selection dialog?
Would anyone happen to know what setting controls the font for file selection dialogs? I've had good success setting the fonts for all other parts of FreeCommander XE Portable. As a result, the font that's used for the popup panel looks "weak", by comparison. Thanks in advance for any help...

Can Address bar display quick filter?
I've be able to get the two buttons for quick filter to be placed on the right side of the Address bar. But I cannot find a way to move the current filter, itself. It is always at the bottom right. Is there a setting to have the current filter value display beside the buttons? (like it does on the S...

Bolder border for selected thumbnail
I've only used FreeCommander for a short while, but one shortcoming has jumped out to me: The border around the currently-selected thumbnail image needs to be bolder. The current 2-pixel border is hard to distinguish from the 1-pixel "frame" around all the other ones ... at least not "...

Re: What controls the gradient for a selected button?
Thanks for those links. Below is the image that goes with my original question. I'll explore the possibility of a Custom Style. It might be the best approach, since I would like FreeCommander under Win7 and Win10 have the same appearance. http://img249.imagevenue.com/loc129/th_723530223_ButtonGradie...

Re: What controls the gradient for a selected button?
Thanks for your response. What I was trying to preserve is the gradient behind the top button panel. But the gradient is, apparently, coming from the Window Style. Using a Custom Style seems to discard the gradient. (BTW, how do I insert an image into a post? My attempt resulted only the the word &q...

What controls the gradient for a selected button?
I'm using the Standard Win7 style for my installation of FreeCommanderXE. The default appearance is good, except for the way a selected button is highlighted with a blue gradient. Without abandoning the style (which I like), can I change the gradient to a light gray, for example? Thanks for any help...

Re: Configuration problem with 32-bit on 64-bit OS
As a further breadcrumb on the trail to a solution, I found this reference on an msdn blog: Important: ZIP files should be "unblocked" before their contents are extracted. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/delay/p/unblockingdownloadedfile/ Indeed, I found that both of the ZIP files I downlo...

Re: Configuration problem with 32-bit on 64-bit OS
I found it! Playing a hunch, I used another file manager to inspect the properties of FcContextMenu64.exe AND FOUND IT BLOCKED ... just like the CHM file I discovered in my other post. This brings up two important questions: 1. At what point are these important files being set to "blocked"...

Re: Configuration problem with 32-bit on 64-bit OS
Thanks for your response. FreeCommander XE 2017 Build 740 32-bit public ... on Win7 64-bit SP1 I want to mention that, regarding bug reporting, I have only just installed FreeCommander and am reluctant to call anything a bug when there's a 99.9% likelihood that I don't have it set up properly. That...

Configuration problem with 32-bit on 64-bit OS
I've installed the 32-bit version (portable) of FreeCommander on my Win7 64-bit PC. All the features seem to work except for two that I've noticed: 1. No context menu is displayed when I right-click on a file name. There is no Properties choice, for example. Instead, FreeCommander tries to open the ...

Re: Help file contents not displaying
Thanks for your response. Yes, I was already starting to use the online help. But I found the answer in a 7-year-old thread on StackOverflow.com Try to right-click on your chm file and select properties. You will see an "Unblock" button. Click on it, it should solve your problem. For whate...

Help file contents not displaying
I'm brand new to FreeCommander and have installed the portable version on its own directory. All the features work, but Help >> Contents only displays the topics and not the actual help text. The FreeCommander.chm file installed on the same directory as the EXE. Is it in the right place? Thanks in a...
