Topic: How to avoid confirmation window in Vista?

The problem may be that FC is writing to one INI file and reading another, because of Vista's UAC (User Access Control) virtualization. If you have set FC to load its INI from its install folder, try changing it to "Specific for user". I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit now, but I cheat...

The 0/100 or 100/0 lets you decide which side to keep. It makes sense to me. Also, you can still right-click on the splitter in one-pane view-- it's that little extra line on the side.

While you are in your Admin account, make sure that FC reads its INI file from its own folder and give your non-admin persona write permission to it. Any directory or file in an NTFS file system is bound by Windows' security restrictions. That's why I have FAT32 partitions on my hard drive, so no ma...

You want to move a file by dragging it, and not to make a shortcut. Hold down the Shift key when you drag the file. If you want to copy the file and have it in both places, hold down the Ctrl key while you drag the file. With Free Commander, it is easier, and often safer, to use the Function keys to...

This has already been covered in another thread. The Open/Save dialogs are not part of Windows Explorer. The Office dialogs are complettely independent of any other common dialog application extensions. Live with it.

This is a problem with Internet Explorer / Windows security settings. I don't remember the stupid details. Help files that are installed with stuff that Windows knows are automatically okayed. Things you add aren't. You have to wade through some IE settings to allow downloaded stuff to function.

That is excellent, starting with the Windows color scheme, because so many people don't know how to do that, or even that the options exist. As before, you've done an awesome job.

I've never seen it. The font looks the same to me after changing the color and after restoring the previous INI -- too small, but no smaller :(

Free Commander's "create new file" command only creates a new plain text file. Word is only doing what it is told. A button in a Favorite tools toolbar that displays a dropdown menu of the Windows "New" file list is probably the most convenient way to get an actual new Word doc. ...

Excellent -- that is very professional and thorough.

And it makes me feel guilty -- I have a website, but I've been remiss in adding useful things to it.

ETA: I recommended it to someone already. Granny rocks :D

Possible cure for invisibility: Make sure Free commander is closed. Open the Free Commander configuration file -- should be in the FC home folder -- freeCommander.ini -- in a text editor. Under [Form] find Pos= (followed by five numbers). The first number is the X position, how many pixels from the ...
