Extension column

Hello,
I use to show the "Extension" column for sorting the files against it.
Currently FC shows its content with a leading dot, i.e the extensions are given as: .jpg, .txt, .exe, .dll, ....
I find the dot redundant and illogical as well: the dot is NOT real part of the extension, but just a separator between the filename and the extension itself.
Does anyone agree with me?
