Slow Multi Rename
Slow Multi Rename
I selected many files in a directory to apply multi rename to. My pattern for replace ends up only applying to a few of the selected files, but the rename operation takes a long time--as if all files are processed even on those where no change to the filename is necessary. I would have thought this would be very fast as only the files that are renamed are processed and the rest should be skipped.
Re: Slow Multi Rename
Should I move this to the Feature Requests or Bug Reports board?
Re: Slow Multi Rename
I'm not sure if it's a bug, I think it's the right forum.
Perhaps provide more info, how many file, which type, which pattern - are you using exif or id3 tag items?
I think that all files must be checked, but not processed.
It's possible to remove files from list, if needed.
BTW Make sure you're using the latest version.

Re: Slow Multi Rename
The files that will be affected are shown as green in the New Name column. But when I click Rename the unaffected files change to green, one at a time slowly.
Since the files that need changing are known before the rename operation starts, FreeCommander only needs to process the files that are green--the other files can be skipped--and should remain black.
I'm using version 810a if it matters.
