quick cleanup/collapse of expanded folders?

#1 Post by ottenm » 07.04.2021, 20:30

Any tips for collapsing a series of expanded folders? I keep navigating into a series of expanded folders/sub-folders, then when I'm done, collapsing all of them one at a time to get back to a clean panel with only the root of the drive open. I close them all one at a time (instead of just the root of the subs) so the next time I pick that same root, all the previous subs don't open with it. Would love to do a cleanup like that off a hotkey or a button. Any help appreciated!

Hotkey:
- open Tools - Define keyboard shortcuts
- in the quick filter field type: tree
- now you can see "Tree - collapse all" and "Tree - collapse all except selected"

For button go to "Tools - Define action toolbars", select desired toolbar and make the same as above.

Thanks a ton Marek! It closes out of the drive I'm in, and "This PC", leaving me up at "Desktop" (instead of the drive), but still a *lot* better than what I've been doing. Apologies for not finding it on my own.

Can I shrink the display of the file system tree to the current drive only?

Yes, you can, open the “Settings (F12) → View → Tree → Management → Base folder” and select the option “Drive”.
