opening multiple folders
opening multiple folders
trying to open multiple folders like in a treeview format, but cannot even select multiple folders unless in thumbnail view which is an extremely slow process. have tried the various settings in NC-mode with no luck...running Win 8.1 OS. anyone know if this feature is avail with FC and/or know of any other file management programs that might work? 10X
Re: opening multiple folders
Are you trying to view the contents of multiple folders in one list?
If so, plain/flat view is your friend.
If not, please clarify.

Re: opening multiple folders
Yes I'm trying to open about 400 folders simultaneously to access the next sub-folders (without showing the files within) like in a treeview format. Then select all those 400 folders together to drag into another folder for archiving.
Sounds like the "plain view - folders" might be the right step if I could select multiple folders in either list or details view within the first panel, or any others. At this point I can only select multiple folders in a thumbnail view which slows to a crawl when scrolling down at around 20 folders.
Appreciate the help.

Re: opening multiple folders
I think it could be done using search (alt+F7) - if I have correctly understood.
In "Location" tab you can set the level of subfolders up the where to do the search.
In "Timestamp/Size/Attr" tab, you set the attribute only to "Directory".
In "Filter" tab, in order to select only the level you want, you can add a regular expression for "Subfolder filter", but you must select the option "Use for full subfolder path".
The result of the search can be then exported to a "file container".
The problem is that I couldn't find the correct regular expression to use. I will try to find it (it should involve using "\" in search) and I will tell you.
Later edit:
Actually I think either I don't understand how "Subfolder filter" works, or the filter doesn't work like it should. No matter what filter I use, all the subfolders from level 1 are displayed as result.

Re: opening multiple folders
Think you're on the right track - I'll keep workin on it. Thanks for attempting to resolve.
Re: opening multiple folders
In version 686, regex worked.
For example, in D: drive, for a list of subfolders found in subfolders of second level -> "D:\\[^\\]+\\[^\\]+$"
