Why ,exe file downloading from OneDrive

#1 Post by davephx » 26.03.2018, 02:55

Newbie here ....

I have a OneDrive on local hard drive that OneDive cloud syncs to and is shown in FC.

So why: "FreeComander.exe is downloading from OneDrive" Says learn more about automatic file download settings but dumb me cannot find it or in the index to help. Why would FC be downloading when OneDrive is already showing all files in the folders? Seems to be doing the same for Dropbox which also syncs to a local folder that appears to already show.

Downloading files to where and why?

Since some time OneDrive only stores stubs of the Online files in the local tree.
The full file is only downloaded if required.
This is independend of the file manager or program used to access a file.
You can configure this feature in the OneDrive settings under Files-on-demand
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3296)
Everything Version 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.67
FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 905 64-bit donor

Thanks I understand now. Thought odd because I haven't seen Copernic desktop search have to download actual files in order to index for its search. Seemed odd FC was downloading only a few random files from years ago that I wasn't doing anything in FC with those files.
