I use FreeCommanderXE as a back-up tool, mostly the Synchronize command to copy from the main drive (E: on the left side) to one of the portable drives (O: on the right side).
I have hundreds of video files, that I started to rename.
When running the "Synchronize" command after such a rename, the command will delete the "old" file on O: and copy the renamed file from E: to O:
Huge data transferts and read/write operations to rewrite exactly the same file ! Only the name had changed.
Is is possible in this case to instruct FreeCommanderXE to only update the file name on the right side ?
Sorry for the beginner question ! Hoping there's a solution.
Thanks,
Phil
Synchronize with new file name
Re: Synchronize with new file name
Currently there is no file manager doing that.
Microsoft had a tool which is no longer available.
The function requires a database of names which tracks the changes.
I suggest that you just make the same renames on both sides to avoid file copies.
