I find that I cannot Drag & Drop files or folders to the main root folders in a Synology NAS. I get a circle with slash when the item is dragged over the target.
The target folder path is specified as UNC path ( \\<ip-address>\rootfolder ) or DNS name ( \\SynologyNAS\rootfolder ).
It works OK if the target folder is a subfolder of the NAS root folders ( \\<ip-address>\rootfolder\subfolder ). I have been all over the settings options and cannot find a setting to correct this behavior. It does work OK if the NAS root folder is drive mapped to a letter. I have too many root folders to map each one to a letter and prefer to use the UNC path. I can create files or folders in the NAS root folder with right click & select the "New" dialog just fine.
This works fine with an older ReadyNas Duo.
The drag & drop feature also works fine between two Windows 10 Explorer windows and also works fine with Double Commander, so I don't think it a permissions issue. I have checked the item and confirmed I am the owner with administrative rights.
I have tested this with public beta 830 and 840 - They both behave the same.
PC is windows 10 with latest updates for 20H2.
Cannot Drag&Drop PC files to NAS shared root folders
Re: Cannot Drag&Drop PC files to NAS shared root folders
Same here. That's not FC but your NAS setup and settings. Synology hasn't given you permission to the root folder, it doesn't by default and probably won't allow you to have access to it, only to the sub-folders and shares you have created.
Re: Cannot Drag&Drop PC files to NAS shared root folders
It really doesn't work.
It seems that I can't get an IDropTarget interface from a network share.
For the next release I've implemented that in a different way.
Currently you can use only File->Copy function (F5 or Shift+F5).
