[FTP] 'Show FTP as drive' option not working

FC version: FreeCommander XE 2014 build 650 ZIP (portable)
PC OS version: Win 7 Ultimate SP1 - 64bit
I select from the menu: Tools/Settings then View->Drives on the General tab I activate 'Show FTP as drive' and press Apply and OK.
I see the globe with FTP appear in the drive button bar, but when I press it nothing happens.
When I use Tools/Save settings and then exit and open FC again then the FTP drive in the button bar has disappeared.
What can I try and is there another way (for now) to activate the FTP function in FC?
