Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
Hi,
I'm using FreeCommander XE 2015 Build 685 32-bit public on Windows 10
I have a problem with opening photos in Free Commander using a new default photo app "Photos" in When I open a folder with photos in Windows Explorer, I can open one photo and then cycle through the rest of them within the app, but when I open a photo using Free Commander (just selecting a photo and press Enter to open through the default app), I can view only the photo I've opened, I can't cycle through them, I have to close the app and open the second photo, and third etc.
Hopefully I haven't missed this thread anywhere here, but I didn't see it!
Thank you!

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
I found a workaround, use "Windows IMage-Viewer" as default app rather than "Photos" and it works.
But a solution for the "Photos" App would be nice.

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
Same problem here.
while waiting for a solution I have to suggest to use the File/View command (or press F3, that is easier)
http://www.freecommander.com/fchelpxe/e ... ?View.html
On my computer it also looks way faster then "Photos" opening itself and showing the image
BTW, it can be also nicer to have the way to double click on images and open the Viewer (not Photos), but it looks it is not an external exe
(or I did not found the way to set it as default)
any help doing that is wellcome

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
I know the questioner posted the problem a long time ago and it is probably no longer relevant to him.
But since I came across the same problem, it means that the problem is still current. So maybe I hope to help other people with my solution.
For me it works with the program "Irfanview":
https://www.irfanview.com/64bit.htm
You have to download the ZIP version and not the Self extracting EXE version.
Thie ZIP version will not install, but this version can still be set as the standard app for pictures.
This solution is not perfect but for me it works pretty well.

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
Hey guys.
Is there any workaround to use the Windows "Photo" App with FC XE aside from the known ones like using old Photo Viewer?
Have upgraded to Windows 11 and the "Photo" App had an major upgrade an want to give it a try.
thx

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
Sorry to not be precise.
Assigning is not the Problem.
The issue is that just ONE Photo opens in the App and you cant swipe or select the next or prwvious from within the app. You have to close it and open the next one again.
For this we need a workaround....

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
There can be no work-around while the keyboard isn't under control of FC.
There is nothing exiting on this app.
There are many free apps which beat it in all aspects.
I have the Fast Stone Image Viewer which has the function you want.

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
You can add the alternative program to "Editors", "Viewers", or "External viewers" in Settings (F12) > Programs, then you could open the image in the alternate program using toolbar button or keyboard shortcuts (F4, F3, or Shift+F3).
BTW I suggest XnView Classic or XnView MP as an image viewer, both free for non-commercial use.

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
Guys, sure i can add plenty of alternatives, but that was not the question!
The question was:
Why does the Photos App of Windows not showing ALL photos in an folder when double clicked one of them in FC.
When you double click the same photo on Explorer it works.
FC - not working (see red marking):
Explorer - working:
Thanks

Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
Oh, I think it could be a Windows limitation, it should be the same in other file managers too, I think it was reported here already, this or similar issue.
Re: Opening photos through FreeCommander on Win10
That is a known limitation in Photos and also the previous version.
They only react on keys and show other pictures in the same dir if run from Explorer.
You can select the old Windows Photo Viewer which doesn't have this limitation.
It works with other file managers like FC or TC without problems.
