Windows 7

#1 Post by paulgul » 12.11.2009, 17:01

Is anyone using fc with windows 7?. I've installed the latest version a couple of times and after installation either fc just hangs or it causes windows explorer to hang and then unable to start any other programs. Un-installing fc cures the problem
edit- thats 32bit win 7

Hi, I've been using FC with win7 for the last couple of days. My pc only hanged when I had another explorer replacement program running, but once I disabled the other one, FC runs without any problems over here.

Should be no problem.
I have it running for several months now under Windows 7 RC
Also since a week now, on an official Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bits and on a Window 7 Home Premium 64bit version.
No problems so far.

FC crippled by UAC in Windows 7

#4 Post by bumpkinboy » 19.11.2009, 01:00

I left the UAC "ON" in Windows 7. It really hampers FC performance. I can't copy, move, rename etc. without several popup screens from UAC. In some instances (renames, deleting some folders, etc.) it refuses permission entirely - can't do it! However - and this irks - Windows Explorer can do all these things without a hitch. !!!??

I also have UAC ON (slider in mid postition) and have no problems.
Al the messages i get, i also get from Explorer.
The only moment i get slow performance is with UNC path, but that has nothing to do with Windows 7

Sorry, i think i can't help

Why does windows 7 stop downloading when the screen is closed? I've recently bought a windows 7 laptop. I wanted to download a game that takes a long time to download. I would close the laptop. It's still on, but the download stop. How can I make it download while it's closed?

Hello, this has nothing to do with FreeCommander.
But i would think it has to do with the option in Windows7 (and XP/Vista) about closing the lid/cover of the laptop.
Go to the Energy settings in the Configuration screen.
On the left should be some text like:
Change behaviour when closing the lid of the laptop.

There you can tell it to NOT go to sleep when you close the lid ('No Action').
If this is not what you want, take a look at: http://www.sevenforums.com
