Using Quickview for .flv files

#1 Post by jockinafrock » 10.01.2010, 16:31

I have a mixed bag of video clips (mpeg/divx/wmv etc) which all play fine using Quickview on FC - with the exception of my Flash Video files (.flv) - which show a page of garbage! Is it possible to view these files on FC? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

As FC uses windows media player for multimedia playback, first you should install WMP-compatible DirectShow codec, like ffdshow.
If the video plays in WMP but not in FC, it means that the file type is not associated with multimedia, so press F9 and add .flv extension in the box labeled "As media".

Thanks - my .flv clips play in WMP but not in FC. I cannot find where to associate these files in FC. You mention F9 - where? In FC or WMP?
Thanks
Jock

Just select your .flv file in FC, press F3 to open the viewer and then F9 for the options dialog.
