Favourite folder list location

(I guess, it's not possible to force favourites list (after ALt+Up) to appear in the active panel, regardless where the mousepointer is at the moment... ?)

Does it matter that much? It does its job no matter where it pops up.
The question confused me at first. I wasn't sure what you meant.

(The thing is, I'm used from TC that it appears in the respactive panel and with FC, I often expect the chosen favourite folder to be displayed in the panel where the list appears and am confused subsequently... Yet, it's a minor issue, in fact.
)

lol I see what you mean. Unexpected behavior can be confusing. I have to live with a lot of it; my own computer is highly customized but not the ones at work, or those I visit as a "computer doctor". It makes me grouchy some days!
