Newbie question!

#1 Post by bertie11 » 11.01.2012, 20:37

Hi just installed and the first thing I can't see is how to select a drive in the left pane and display the contents of the same drive in the right pane.

Thank you.

The two folder/file panels are independent of each other. This is different than from what you are used to in Windows Explorer.

It sounds like what you want is to show the tree panel. You can do that with the toolbar button or via the View menu. You can do this for either or both folder/file panels.

To make FC look like Windows Explorer, you can reduce it to a single folder/file panel. In FC 2009, drag the splitter bar (between the two folder/file panels) to the side. Or you can use the Split Window choice on the View menu. Add the tree panel, of course.

Like Scott_Y said, you've to activate the tree for the two panels (look at screenshot).
Sometimes FC makes the wide of the tree to 1 mm :?
Then you've to drag the separator to a usable position.

btw.
For new users you may need a helpfile which you can download also at this location: http://www.freecommander.com/fc_downl_en.htm

Excellent, Ralfso! Much better than my answer, clearer and more helpful.
