the source file name are larger than is supported ???

#1 Post by Steve78 » 11.04.2012, 20:49

I'm trying to delete a folder that contains a web address and is giving me a message that " the souce file name are larger than the supported file system".
The folder in on a locally attached drive. It displays in a directory that is lighter than the other directories. When I drill down to the folder I want to delete, the normal shade appears.
I can't delete or cut it. Any help is appreciated.
thanks

The name has probably special characters (unicode), so to delete try to open it in Explorer, or in the new FreeCommander XE (preview) - which has the unicode support.

Thanks for the suggestion but the XE version didn't work. Explorer also didn't work.

I did get some errors while trying some of the XE options but there was no message. Only the Error message at the bottom of the window box.
I tried Wipe, Delete,

If explorer don't work, then the file is in use or it's broken, try to delete it in Safe mode, or/and use the Check disk.

Thanks. The Safe delete worked.
