Fixed Tab Size

How can I set a specific tab size?I want the size of all the tabs to be the same..regardless of the length
of the tab name...

by the way I'm using 591..I explored the settings but I didn't find any option
regarding setting fixed tab size...maybe I just overlooked..so somebody please
point it..

I haven't tried this myself, but the most relevant place I can find in 597 (an probably earlier versions) is Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management tab. At the bottom is a spinner box and check box for Maximum Length of Tab Title. If a tab title is shorter than the limit set there, the tab will be shortened accordingly -- that is, the actual tab length will vary up to the maximum limit.

That isn't quite what you are looking for, which would be a fixed or absolute size for the tab. But you may be able to achieve a satisfactory display if you set a small enough limit that most any tab title would be truncated to.

The potential problem, of course, is that the tab titles will be too short to distinguish from each other. The balance point depends on how important the fixed tab size is versus functional readability. I think if you experiment a bit with the maximum length, you may find a reasonable value.
