ZIP / RAR files appear as directories ... can this be stopped ? I understand this may
be controlled by the OS.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit, service pack 1, an i5 Ivy Bridge 3750 with SSD, and
Free Commander version 2009.02b.
Is it possible to STOP viewing compressed files as folders ?
Re: Is it possible to STOP viewing compressed files as folde
Do you mean you want them to open in your default ZIP or RAR program, instead of in an FC folder?
In FC-XE, try Settings > Archiver Plugins > WCX page.
Disable (uncheck) the relevant plugin.

Re: Is it possible to STOP viewing compressed files as folde
I found no such setting.
The compressed files appear on the left hand side Directory Tree view.
I do NOT wan that. I want them treated just like any other file is as far as its display in ANY window.
When I click on it, that is a different story - one that need not be addressed now.
It is the DISPLAY of the file AS A directory I am bothered by.

Try FC-XE. My zip files show correctly as files, not as folders -- just as you desire. (FC-XE 598, Win7-64.)fcny wrote:The compressed files appear on the left hand side Directory Tree view.

In FC-XE 600, this is controlled by Settings > View > Tree > Management pagefcny wrote:The compressed files appear on the left hand side Directory Tree view.

[ ] Show windows archive files (zip, cab)
I think unchecked is the default setting, and provides exactly what you desire
