passing files to main context menu in search

#1 Post by dcbahr » 28.11.2012, 11:05

Hi. If I do a wildcard search for files I want to convert to another format e.g. *.flac, how do I pass it on to my converter via the context menu? If I use the applications key (right windows key, I'm blind so never use the physical mouse), I just scrolling options. If I use my mouse pointer, I get basic copy/edit commands, but I need to pass the paths to dbpoweramp to convert them, and I have that option available in the shell context menu. Any idea how I can do that? thanks, Dave

In the new FreeCommander XE there is the normal context menu in the search window (not the reduced one like in FreeCommander 2009).

FreeCommander XE is marked as preview version (not feature complete), but is as well stable as the 2009 FC version.

You can download FCXE at: http://www.freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm

Ok. thank you for that. However, upon installing the program, I don't have my explorer context menu in search, at least, not the full one. I have a few items but not the one I need at all. I tried control right click, shift right click, nothing. Also, where is there a help file for this version? or some guide as to what has changed? thanks,

If you miss a few context menu items, it may be a 64-bit Problem.

Which Windows version and which software versions of missing entries do you use?
Please incl. info about 32- or 64-bit versions of the programs.

I am indeed using a 64 bit win7. I think the dbpoweramp I'm using is 64 bit. I'm not at the comp I have the latest FC on, but if it was 64 bit install then that's what I picked. There are indeed some weird things related to the menu bar that my screen reader isn't really understanding.

FC is a 32-bit application which normally can't read 64-bit context entries. FCXE has a "FcContextMenu64.exe" to show them.
Like in some threads discussed it seems useful to install both versions (32- and 64-bit) for some applications (7zip, WRAR, ...)
