Selecting folders / files like in Windows Explorer [RESOLVED]

#1 Post by Forez » 13.05.2016, 20:08

This screenshot shows how selecting works in Windows Explorer [although a mouse pointer is missing because Print Screen doesn't capture it]:

As you can see, I can select with a mouse while being "in a middle" of folders. And you can not do such a selection in FreeCommander. Why???

Could you upload your config, please?

So that I can try it and see if this behavior comes out of settings? If I'll get your results [behavior] then I will look for differences

And if not then this will qualify as a bug. I know one long time FC user who also can't select like in Windows Explorer

Settings > select items > general > [v] theme off (also [v] enable sel. per mouse dragging), then restart FC.

Settings > select items > general > [v] theme off (also [v] enable sel. per mouse dragging), then restart FC.
NC-Mode is used.
There is no need to select [v] theme off (works without it for me)
But it is important to [v] enable sel. per mouse dragging.

It doesn't work here, I can select multiple files, but just when starting from free space, try to rename one of those files to long name and then try again.

Without "theme off" selected it works only for the right mouse button [if it of course is selected in the NC panel]

I've played a bit with those settings but it seems that they can't be set in such a way [at the same time]:
- with LMB you select only single file
- with LMB you select more files only using CTRL / SHIFT
- with LMB you can move selected files
- with RMB you selected files bring up [coping / moving] shell menu
- with RMB you select files in sticky mode [without CTRL / SHIFT]
- single RMB still brings up shell menu

So basically I would like to retain all that normal Windows behavior but add sticky selection under RMB [replace default the ordinary RMB selection]

How about utilizing the middle mouse button?

If it could be configured independently from how the left and right work, then this issue with selecting would be gone

This issue has been resolved with implementation of the

Tools > Settings > View > File / folder list > Mouse shortcuts > Click with middle mouse button

feature

Thank you Marek for that update
