Toggle Viewer feature (+workaround)

#1 Post by Dreamer » 28.11.2017, 02:49

Internal viewer is very useful, but the hotkey and button just open the viewer and another/different action is needed to close it (Esc key/X button).

I suggest to use the same toolbar/splitter button to open and close viewer.

Workaound - you can assign a hotkey F3 in the Viewer to for action "Exit", so you could quickly show and hide the item preview. You'll lose the F3 hotkey to "find next" and exit hotkey with "Esc" hotkey, but a single key to show and hide preview is a good replacement.

Of course, using F3/splitter button to show/hide viewer would be better, if we could use also Esc key to exit.

I found a problem, if I assign a hotkey F3 to exit preview, when I use F3 in FC to open viewer, then click another item in FC and use F3 to open this item, I can't use F3 to close viewer, because the focus is not switched to viewer (possible issue or bug?).

Use the QuickView button on the splitter.
This allows to start and stop the view with the button.
And why is it a problem to use Esc for ending a viewer ?
This is the default in many tools and no problem to find on the keyboard.

In window mode the size is not large enough.

Esc is not a problem, but when using F3 to open, F3 to close is just faster. When using a splitter button, I have to move a cursor to X button, or use another hand, it's all about speed...

Perhaps a single instance for viewer would solve this, if enabled, "viewer" button would show/hide viewer.
In the viewer, it would be nice, if Esc could be used for close, F3 for close and if searching is started, as "find next". I know, it's probably too complicated.
