Hi,
Can we add a function to configure what FreeCommander interprets as separator (character where we stop if we do CTRL + Arrow right / left).
For now, " ", "+" and "-" are considered as such
I use a lot "_", "=" and "." in complements ...
Best regards

Re: Separator
I'm trying to figure out what you mean by a 'separator'. Where, in what context, is it used? I tried putting a "+" in my file list, but it doesn't appear to be doing anything. Hence, my question: where are the separators?
Re: Separator
When I edit text (filename, in file, etc), I use CTRL + Arrow right / left to move cursor to next/previous word OR part of word
Special character delimits what FreeCommander interprets like word (space, of course, but "+" and "-" also) : I call these special characters "separator"

Re: Separator
I use FreeCommander on a daily basis
(that's why it's one of the rare software for which I am a donor)
BUT my request still has no response from Marek Jasinski
When I rename a file, I move to the next group of words (thanks to CTRL + Arrow right / left) delimited by a separator.
Currently, FreeCommander uses the following characters as a separator :
" ", "{", "(", "[", "-", "+", "}", "$", "%", "!"
(oddly NOT ")" neither "]" nor " ?" neither nor ".")
Could we add a function to configure what FreeCommander interprets as separator ?

Hey VERSEAU44,
the behavior you are describing is the typical Windows behavior.
You can test this by using Windows Explorer to edit file names.
I don't think Marek will be able to rewrite Windows.

Hey Odamn-Ete
You're right BUT ... FC is an overlay so it could very well complement some Windows behaviors (as it does for copying files, for example)
Moreover, what is surprising is that Windows does not behave in the same way if you rename a file or if you type its name when saving it
Example : "_" is considered as a separator when save a file but not when renaming it

To be more precise when I write
"FC is an overlay so it could very well complement some Windows behaviors (as it does for copying files, for example)"
In Parameters // "File/folder operations" // General : you choose to use Windows, FreeCommander or external program to delete, copy and move
So why not choose FreeCommander to rename files/folders through an overlay ?
What does Marek think about it ?
