Files and Folders are not always refreshed
Files and Folders are not always refreshed
When copying, moving, deleting, and creating new folder, the windows are not always refreshed automatically. And when doing it manually by clicking the refresh icon, I found that I have to navigate to another drive or folder and return to the original drive or folder before I see the list refreshed.
The bug is old, but your workaround is new. Thank you.
The bug has existed for at least two years that I know of, and persists in Version 2008.06a, that the folder tree is sometimes not refreshed when a new folder is created, and even the "refresh" operation does not refresh it. I did not know until your post that one can force a refresh by switching to a different drive and back. That is a lot quicker than the only workaround I knew, which was to close and restart FreeCommander. Thank you.

Doesn't pressing CTRL-R force a refresh?RonDavis wrote:The bug has existed for at least two years that I know of, and persists in Version 2008.06a, that the folder tree is sometimes not refreshed when a new folder is created, and even the "refresh" operation does not refresh it. It would be nice to have an actual configuration option under SETTINGS that you could check to force a refresh.
PowerDesk Pro actually has a dedicated option box for that under Options > Preferences > General Settings:
force refresh after file operation
That way you check the box, save the config and the problem is solved.
I think it's a good idea to give the user the choice.
Sort of like how you can choose in some cars to engage 4 wheel drive when needed, or default to 2 wheel drive when it is not. [/list]
For me it seems to be fixed in this version.Marek wrote:Have you checked 2008.06b too?
I ran both 2008.06 and 2008.06b at the same time, kept the folder tree list the same in both and then used another application to create a new folder.
In 2008.06 the folder tree list did not update, even after refreshing. The only way to refresh is to make sure that the folder tree has the focus, then it will refresh correctly. If the focus is on the file list, it does not refresh.
In 2008.06b the folder tree list updated correctly without a manual refresh.
