Browsing a CD with two PDF files on it, FC incorrectly displays one of the PDF file's name in the short 8.3 format ("2008A0~4.PDF") instead of the long format ("PHO BC 2008 A069.pdf"). FC correctly displays the other PDF's name in long format.
After copying the two files to a Windows share, the same problem occurs (PDF #1 - short name, PDF #2 - long name diplayed).
Browsing both the CD and the Windows share with Windows explorer, the name of both files are displayed correctly as long names.
The problem appears independently of FC settings used - I reproduced it with default settings and plugins disabled.
The "Use long names" option was activated in both "setting sets" I have used.

P.S. I made some efforts uploading a screenshot to ImageShack in order to illustrate the problem, but I am only allowed to post URLs after two posts - a really bad idea!
FC displays short (8.3) filename instead of long filename
FC and Windows version for a.m. problem
Sorry, I forgot to mention the program version:

Re: FC displays short (8.3) filename instead of long filenam
Same issue here, version 2009.02a
I backed up (copied) some internal files from my cell phone to my PC. With Windows Explorer I can see the long filenames, with a strange char (as if it's from another codepage). The same files in FC are shown in the short (8.3) format.
Maybe the problem is with the strange chars?
WinXP and WinVista.
