UNC path does not work on address bar

#1 Post by hotribao » 24.02.2009, 07:19

Hi,

I've just upgraded to version 2009.02. Now, when I type an UNC path on the address bar, nothing happens. E.g, assuming I am at C:\, I edit the address bar by typing \\pc1, I am still at C:\ (the \\pc1 is a valid address, I can open it by the standard windows file manager)

It worked very well in version 2008.06c

OS: Windows XP SP2

Does it work for anyone?

Bao.

I confirm that it does not work. My 2 other colleagues get the same problem.

We both have version 2008.06c installed on our PC before upgrading to version 2009.02. Could it be the cause? However, we tried to uninstall the old version before installing the new one, but still the same.

I agree with hotribao.
I had noticed the problem in version 2008.06b (http://forum.freecommander.com/viewtopic.php?t=1271), but also the latest version 2009.02 it affected.

As workaround you can type \\pc1 in the dos prompt command line - it works fine.

Oh great! It works like that! That is what I'm looking for, a way that it works, no matter from the address bar or from the DOS prompt. I like the flat view feature in the new version :D

Thanks Marek,
Bao.

Hi Marek,
it works, but an Explorer window is opened, the path is not open in the selected tab.

bye

I agree with hotribao.

I've noticed that if I type a UNC path of an existing folder (e.g. \\pc1\SharedFolder) it works well and the path is opened in the selected tab.

Bye,
Paolo

What I've found is that there is a bug if I type "\\", my freecommander just crashes. The solution seems to be to use the icon to open the network, but that it is too slow.

So I've the latest version 2009.02.

Same behaviour of pao2009 here:

\\PC\Folder works fine

\\PC ...is ignored.

UNC dosent work for me w 2009.02. If I "edit" address bar and type a unc to a server ie \\server1\software it does nothing.
Also if we could just click the address bar and start typing that would be great.

I have the same problem as pao2009. Additionally, if authorization is required, the address history does work any of both ways (neither \\pc1 nor \\pc1\test).
