Does 7z offer integration with context menus? If so, that may be a good we to do it also.
Yes, many (free) archive programs (with 7-Zip support) have the context menu options, e.g. 7-Zip, ZipGenius, Izarc... It's a good workaround.

Creating 7z or RAR archives from FC via context menu is indeed possible
But opening 7z archives inside FC like ZIP, RAR or CAB files is another thing and will be very useful

I can certainly see the benefit of both features, especially if you wish to open an archive quickly to perhaps drag and drop copy/move or view a file or two without having to extract the entire archive into the current folder or an auto-created folder beneath the current one.

Conversely, adding a file or files via drag and drop copy/move can also be nice to be able to do inside the file pane.

Having FC treat each archive as a "folder" for such operations is ultimately, I think, what many would like to see included in this great app. I am glad though that until that option does arrive in full, there are some other ways to manage archives, even if they are not as flexible.

I'm very glad that there is a dedicated FC forum now. I'm not exactly sure when the forum was added, but it is great for fostering discussion and ideas about FC.

I feel that the additions that have been made in the 2008 versions have really brought FC up to par with most of the other file management apps out there, and I'm very glad to see that. He does some incredibly hard work on the code, and a few more features here and there may be enough to allow users of other tools like this behind and make FC their primary app.

To make this integration you have only to install the 7-Zip. I think adding support for 7z archives (pack, unpack, explore) is really needed.

Guess I never considered the need for fully integrated archive support. I just do it with the context menu, but my needs are simpler than perhaps others are. I stick with ZIP and RAR only, and with other formats, I just right-click on the archive and choose the "EXTRACT TO <folder name>". The <folder name> default value is the FILE NAME (not including extension) that you are right-clicking over. Then if I need to archive 'em back up, I just do it to a ZIP file, cause with WinRAR, it seems like the ZIP code archives noticeably faster, and the ZIP format is more widely supported, especially by 3rd party apps. In WinRAR context menus, if I select a group of archives, it provides an option to "Extract each archive to their own folder", which is also pretty convenient.

If I upload files to sites like GameCopyWorld, who prefer the RAR format, that's when I use it.

Anyway, if Marek can fit that native support in, I'd be all for it. Especially since 7z is becoming a big-time favorite in the archive community. ZIP, RAR and 7z seem to be the top tier, I believe.

I repeat that you only have to install 7-ZIP to have context menu integration. And I don't think that FC needs this. Much easier to press Alt+F5, set the params and go on.

Please don't say that, too many ones need it, if you don't need it, no one against your measure. So take it easy please.

I really missed feature of exploring 7z files in FC like zip for example.I have many stuff packed in 7z(saves space more then zip or rar).

That way I'm also supporting this request.

Strange, it works good here. Did you try to restart FC / computer?

Really strange, perhaps you could reinstall 7-Zip, or start 7-Zip as administrator, and disable and re-enable the context menu option (while FC is closed).
