Make folder name/path selection, copy, edit more easy

#1 Post by vsrawat » 13.07.2010, 08:26

I have been happily using it for almost a year now, ever since I switched to w7 and saw what mess they have made of windows explorer.

One point i would like to mention.

In Windows explorer. it is quite easy to pick and edit folder name/path. they show it at the top, and we can just click on that and edit it or copy it to clipboard.

in FC, that is quite complicated, right click, and going through all so many options, etc. Even after a year, I am not comfortable with it.

And all this complication, while single clicking on a folder tab title selects it, but double clicking on the tab title just doesn't do anything.

It will be convenient if double click on a tab title could do something for this end, that it allows us to copy and edit the path name in some way.

Thanks.

Have you tried right-click on the "copy-path-icon" on the right side of the address bar?

Yes, I have tried all the options. Of course, we can do it through various options given there, but it is too complicated.

the simplest should have been "edit the folder name/path", that is at the bottom of the right click list. once we go do edit, we can select all or part of it and copy. It is the fastest that we have been used to in windows explorer. further, we can even edit the path and press enter and that folder opens.

currently, all those 8.3 or other options of copying are confusing me.

also, the right click menu on folder tab name is different from right click menu on that particular "copy-path icon", and even the full long path name display line has different right click option.

all this has ended up confusing me even after a year. even a single (mostly single) huge right click menu on all these folder-related icons or places would have been convenient.

Only one question: do you think we will have a problem if we just click or double click on the folder path displayed there and we get to edit it?

Alt-G also edits the address bar.
