jar, war archive

#1 Post by radianek » 13.12.2007, 08:41

It will be nice, if I can update war, jar etc. archive files. Now I can update only zip.

I tried to rename war file to zip, after it works, but foldering is too slow, in zip works to much better.

sry, this is not response on my request. I know about this setting. Problem is that if I tried update file in deep folder like folder1\folder2\folder3\file in .war file, it does not updated. I can only update file in folder1\file. This is maximum.

And if I tried rename .war file to .zip file result was that I can update deep files. but foldering is too slow!

But if I tried edit deep folder in .zip file it works :) problem is with jar, war, ear.

Fully agree - I would also appreciate full JAR support

I fully agree.

I think a lot of Java programers would use this great FreeCommander. Put problem is, that it doesn't support comfortable way of working with jar, war, ear files.

Eg. I need to quite often change some *.properties or *.xml files that are stored inside of *.jar file. And it's quite hard to do that with FC right now.

Could this feature be included in some of next versions?

Beta 389 claims to have fixed this issue. But it still does not work for jar files on my machine (XP SP2). Also, I'd say it is not only about drag'n'drop.

I would like to be able to directly edit files in zips, jars, etc. I do this quite frequently with 7-Zip. After editing and closing a file, 7-Zip asks me whether I want to update the file in the archive. This even works for nested archives. E. g. I just edited a file inside a jar file which itself was again inside a zip file. Such functionality would be great in FreeCommander.

What is the status of this feature request?

I am really looking forward to be able to change files in jars and wars.
