"Not completed now" - some points i have seen:

- quick view not working at flat view with files deeper down in the file heirarchy (same with double click)
- button [flat view] status not refreshed if changing the directory (but view status is set automatically back to normal view)

Flat view = show all files in subfolders - try Ctrl+B to enable/disable.

Wow. I am not sure the last time I saw such a feature in action. Been a long, long time though I think.

Anyway, thank you for the reply. It is much appreciated.

I am going to be VERY careful not to do that again! I tried it once and for a long time I saw my "busy" cursor -- Image

It had started to show some strange things before I gave up and ended its suffering. Very odd filenames, or something. :(

Did you also try it with a quite small folder? Then its running very well for me.
Remember ALL subfolders will be opened too and it is really not recommendable to do a flat view for example on C:\.

@Marek:

To avoid such things it would be good:

- to be able to intercept the action manually (i didnt succeed f.e. with [ESC] and had to kill the process...)
- or fc intercepts the actions automatically
- or asks after reaching a certain time or total file number (perhaps adjustable in the options?) wether to continue or to stop

I thought that the one I tried it on was fairly moderate (I know better than to try any cute new tricks with C:\ LOL).

I may experiment further and see what happens. I don't think I need it much. Maybe some day when I have a really fast computer... :D

I have been playing with the flat view in carefully chosen directories, and I think I will find it very useful. For now, I may have to rearrange a few things, but I need to do that anyway.

I used it to locate all of the different archived versions of one chapter of a novel I am working on, so I could compare some of them. It is better than Search for something like that. Also handy for finding duplicate files and altered versions of the same image.

I never would have thought of such a handy feature. Thank you, Marek.
