Metadata Viewing exiftool
Metadata Viewing exiftool
Hey Marek,
thanks for incorporating exiftool into Quick View/ Viewer. I like the fact, that I can access the metadata from a large number of various file types now.
I have a question regarding activating and deactivating metadata viewing.
If an image file is being displayed in the viewer (one config for both viewers, opens quick view in other pane)
I can right click on the display of the viewer and receive a context menu, where I can activate/deactivate metadata display.
If I am viewing any other type of file, this context menu is not presented. I have tried combinations of shift / Ctrl / Alt + right mouse click and the context menu doesn't change.
Is there any other method to toggle between viewing with and without metadata information?
Best regards,

You can find it in the menu: View

You wrote about viewer/quick viewer.thanks for incorporating exiftool into Quick View/ Viewer.
In Viewer (F3) you can find in main menu View->Show Exif/Metadata.
In QuickViewer the View popup menu you can open with right click on the title bar of the QuickView.

Here is additional information on how the number of tags can be expanded in the multi rename dialog.
If in the viewer settings the path for exiftool program is defined
then the tags can be used for multirename: In the popup menu are used some default tags.
If you want expand or change the list you can define the section [ExifToolTags] in the freecommander.mren.ini file.
The default tags are defined as :
The name of the tags you can see in viewer if you select for display "Tag name".

FreeCommander XE 2021 Build 855:
When I look at FreeCommander.mren.ini, it doesn't show these lines.
In FreeCommander.ini there seem to be some options, but it is more complex than what is shown.
Since I have only a basic understanding of .ini files, I don't want to mess with the FreeCommander.ini file unless you specifically suggest that.
Please, what am I missing?
(My goal is to be able to add/change GPS locations in the EXIF file of my photos, at times with multiple files)

With FreeCommander you can not add/change any EXIF data.(My goal is to be able to add/change GPS locations in the EXIF file of my photos, at times with multiple files)
You can only view the existing data.
