Suggestion on date format

#1 Post by slono » 04.11.2011, 16:38

I think, it would be a good idea to have an option to customize dates format
Right now it is driven directly by the windows regional settings.
For example, on my computer Modified date for a file is 11/04/2011 12:26:48 PM, wich takes up to 22 butes of space and looks ugly when i sort by date

Look at this ugly list!
4/16/2011 11:23:17 AM
4/16/2011 9:34:12 PM
9/1/2011 2:17:23 AM
10/17/2011 12:18:10 PM

Does it look sorted for you? I'm not even talking about the alignment!!

It would be nice to save some space in the column width and be able at least:
1) switch to 24 hrs military time instead of am/pm
2) hide the century
3) show leading zeros in month and hour,

so date would look like this
04/16/11 11:23:17
04/16/11 21:34:12
09/01/11 02:17:23
10/17/11 12:18:10

Which one looks better????

This would save 5 bytes in the column width and make dates more organized when you sort by it
