Hi,
I'm pretty much happy with FreeCommander XE except of some (minor) issues:
1.) When entering a folder with "Enter", the keyboard focus is not on the ".." for parent folder, but one virtual line above. So basically you have to press "key down" once to have the keyboard focus on "..".
2.) When deleting a file, keyboard focus is set to the "virtual entry" above "..". In my opionion the focus should be on the file above or below the deleted file.
3.) On large network drives, performance is quite poor. It takes a couple of seconds to even start navigating ... Wireshark show's, that FCXE is querying quite a lot of filesystem information (SMB Query File Standard Info, Query File Basic Info), even for parent folders ... is there any performance improvment on using SMB2 instead of SMB? does anyone else experience issues with network drives?
best regards,
Martin

Re: Focus for keyboard usage, Network performance
It works OK for me in cases 1 and 2.
Can't test case 3.

Re: Focus for keyboard usage, Network performance
just re-checked case 1. the focus is set on ".." when entering the folder, as soon as the folder content has been read completely, the focus is set away ...

here's a screencast (realtime) of network performance and focus loss:

Re: Focus for keyboard usage, Network performance
By changing folders in local computer (in tree) there is about 1 s delay. The same time seems to be in case of network drives. Windows explorer react immetiately.

Are you using XP? I am having troubles with hangs and freezes too - here is the thread I began:

Take a look at that link I just posted - I think I found a solution.

Re: Focus for keyboard usage, Network performance
No it does take more than 1 sec ... sometimes FC hangs up to 10 seconds, depending on how many files there are.
The fix from the thread BGM doesn't work for me (the settings is not checked).
In my case, the network drive is a DFS tree.
