Nobody's telling you to do anything. The version number is simply to identify which release the information applies to, and benefits everyone interested in the thread topic. For users with access to the latest intermediate beta, they can try it immediately. For users of the public beta only, they can use the information when the next public release becomes available. It's a normal part of working together in a public forum, particularly with software which is as actively developed as FC is.

I tried the color change for the inactive LIST panel, but I can not make the TREE panel change colors with the list panel. Is there a way to change the TREE panel as well?

No, the tree panel colours have not been implemented.
(Windows 10-1909 Professional 64bit)
