Change Attributes Setting
Change Attributes Setting
Using Free Commander XE,0.0.0.570 with XP Pro. I went to the ".ini" but could not find attribute settings. I would like to make the default not have any check marks(as there are presently in "Archive, Read only, Hidden, System"). Also, whenever I update a file or folder, how can I have the time and date attributes automatically reset to the change? Thank you for any assistance, and for a good program.
Re: Change Attributes Setting
It sounds to me that you don't want the file attributes column at all. If so, in FC go to Settings > View > Custom Columns. Select a view (you may have only one), then click the Define Columns button. Select the Attributes column, then click the Delete button. (You don't need to edit the INI file.)tosim wrote:... Go to Settings > View > File/Folder list. On the Refresh tab, put a check mark in (enable) "Auto refresh for general changes" and "Auto refresh for other changes."tosim wrote:... Also, whenever I update a file or folder, how can I have the time and date attributes automatically reset to the change?
Re: Change Attributes Setting
Hey Scott_V-Thanks for (such a quick) reply. Have done as you suggested. Now, will the date(accessed, modified, created)automatically change to what is the present date I accessed it? Thank you again.
Re: Change Attributes Setting
The only date I display is Modified, and yes, it changes immediately when a file is added or modified. You can test Accessed date; I don't suppose Created date changes -- though I must admit I don't understand the dates Microsoft reports for those anyway (they are sometimes not what I would expect).
Re: Change Attributes Setting
You can actually disable the "Last accessed" date in XP. I suppose it saves some RAM. If you have any of the XP tweaking apps, they will have the option to disable it. I have had that disabled for years.

Re: Change Attributes Setting
Thank you both. I really appreciate the quick replies. Slightly off subject-but does anyone know if there is a FC version for Linux? I'm thinking seriously of using it more than Windows. Thanks to all.
Re: Change Attributes Setting
There is no version for Linux and it is not planned, AFAIK.
Re: Change Attributes Setting
Too bad. Debian (Ubuntu for example) is a future and there is definitely a lack of good file manager. FC is the best and is a really dream of for Ubuntu, at least for me.
