Crashes with LibreOffice

#1 Post by hwtan » 22.08.2012, 05:18

In fact I have this issue before with OpenOffice. I just upgraded to LibreOffice 3.6. It seems like LibreOffice in the process of installation will replace a file, probably a dll file. After which, FreeCommander or FreeCommander XE (591) will not launch. I can see FreeCommander running as a process in the Windows Task Manager but not as an application.

Is there anything that I can do besides reinstalling FreeCommander XE?

I use libreoffice 3.5.5 but the portable version on my computer.

it is much easier to use the portable version. You don't need to install it. The installer simply copies the files into a folder.

There are some advantage doing this:

when a new version is coming out, installation is simply done by overwriting the files in the folder
there is no process from libreoffice running in the background that could make problems

Try to "install" - unpack FC - portable version into another folder and then copy the settings files from the old FC folder to the new FC folder Settings.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

It seems to be working fine after a reboot. :D

You also might try upgrading to LibreOffice 3.6.1. I don't use it myself, but I've heard of other problems with 3.6. It might or might not be related to the problem you reported with FC-XE.
