non-sync of folder name in tree with right pane tab folder

another issue is non-sync of folder tree in left pane, and the currently selected tab in right pane.

in the right pane, there are many tabs open and I click on a tab and select it, this selected tab's base folder or its expanded folder tree doesn't even show in right pane folder list, it has moved up or down in the folder tree of the left pane.

If I have 4 tabs open in right pane, and I click one by one on each on to select it, the folder pane at the right doesn't move at all to show the currently selected tab's folder in right pane. In fact, nothing at all happens in the left pane while I select all 4 tabs one by one in right pane.

You have given "folder tree visibility per panel". I am using fc always in single pane mode and have selected visibility per panel.

I guess, "folder tree visibility" should be "per TAB". every tab's corresponding folder should be visible at the center of left pane tree. Of course, it should remember the last positioning by user and should always open in that position when that tab is selected (in case, user has adjusted the left pane so as to move drop files or anything).

Thanks.

What about the option Settings->Tree->Management: Follow external address changes?

I have that ticked, still the folder of selected right tab doesn't even appear on the left pane tree.

when I switch between 4 tabs in right pane, almost no movement happens in left pane.

Thanks.

Here's what I am getting in FC 600, Win7-64

[x] Follow External Address Changes
Result: The folder highlighted in the tree is the folder open in each tab (changes when tabs are changed).

[ ] Follow External Address Changes
Result: The folder highlighted in the tree does not change when tabs are changed.

The setting of Tree Visibility Per Tab does not matter.

I have FC 591. I shall wait for next preview release for free users.

Thanks.

"Follow External Address Changes" is not self-explanatory to me, it sounds like something external to FC. It wasn't until this thread that I knew what it means. Perhaps the name could be changed to something like one of the following:

Follow location of current tab
Follow location of active tab
Mirror location of current tab

yes, I also feel, as scott said, the name for the option doesn't become obvious to reflect what it does. so please consider making it more descriptive.

It is there in FC 591, but ticking/unticking it doesn't change any behavior at all. Was it broken and has been corrected in recent releases. or am I still missing something to make it work in my 591?

Thanks.

Follow location of current tab
Follow location of active tab
Mirror location of current tab
Some users does not use tabs :).
What about:
Follow location changes in the active panel

Such users are missing one of the most useful features of FC over MS windows explorer. :-)

I think it is intuitive that the current active tab in current active panel automatically gets reflected in left pane folder tree.

Which are the situations that you envisage in which a user would want some other folder tree displayed in left pane, and some different folder content open in right pane?

I mean, why at all have a settings option for that? why not make it default in FC that right pane's folder tree is displayed in left folder tree pane? food for thought for you. :-)

That's great. It is much more self-explanatory than "follow external address changes" which, as I said, seems to indicate somewhere outside of FC.

And as vsrawat said, it would be reasonable to enable this by default.
EDIT: In 603, this is now enabled by default.
